Our Recipe Box: Sustainable by Nature

We source your ingredients directly from the producer and deliver to your home without any detours. Your recipe box comes with pre-measured ingredients which helps to avoid food waste. This shorter supply chain means we avoid packaging and repackaging along the way. As a result, your HelloFresh meals create 25%* fewer carbon emissions than the same meals made from supermarket ingredients. Learn more about our Life Cycle Assessment Study.

Keeping More on Your Plate

Keeping More on Your Plate

When food waste goes to landfill, it impacts the climate by producing greenhouse gases. In total, UK households waste 4.5 million tonnes of food every year1. We help you reduce food waste by purchasing ingredients based on your order, pre-portioned to the gram.

Where food comes from is as important as how it tastes. We attach a great deal of importance to regional and seasonal produce, as well as sustainable agriculture, fishing, and animal farming.
Climate Conscious recipes

Climate Conscious recipes

We have now launched Climate Conscious recipes in our boxes. These recipes are responsible for the lowest amount of CO2e emissions on the weekly menu and produce at least 50% less carbon emissions than the average HelloFresh meal. Climate Conscious recipes are just as convenient, tasty and balanced as our other meals, but give you one more way to make everyday sustainable food choices with HelloFresh.
HelloFresh Gardens

HelloFresh Gardens

Here at HelloFresh, we’re committed to wasting less food. We’ve partnered with Social Farms & Gardens, a UK-wide charity that supplies community growing spaces for local residents, to help communities and families to learn more about living sustainably and growing their own. By growing their own fruit, vegetables and flowers, people of all ages can come together to find out more about where food comes from, learn new gardening skills and enjoy the benefits of being in nature. This year, we’ll be shining a spotlight on families and children in particular, helping to inspire a future generation to grow their own and adopt sustainable practices. We’ve also teamed up with low-waste chef and food champion Max La Manna who will help to inspire people to adopt more sustainable habits, reduce their carbon footprint and inform a future generation of budding chefs and cooks.
Donate your box to Charity

Donate your box to Charity

We've partnered with London based charity The Felix Project who help fight hunger by rescuing fresh, nutritious surplus food and delivering it to charities and schools for people in need. We work with this charity to make sure that any surplus food we have at our packing facility is donated to those who need it most.
You can also support by donating your HelloFresh box to The Felix Project to support those in need.

Quality Produce

Quality Produce

We understand how important it is to know where your produce comes from. Here at HelloFresh, we work hard to ensure that the meat in your recipes is held to high standards. Certifications like Red Tractor ensure that meat has been cared for on farms that meet rigorous standards covering food safety, traceability, animal welfare and environmental protection.

Diversity and Inclusion at HelloFresh UK

HelloFresh is on a mission to change the way that people eat, forever. We believe that everyone is welcome at our table. We know we have more work to do to reflect this belief throughout our organisation, ensuring that we have clear actionable commitments, as actions speak louder than words.

We want to be clear that we do not tolerate racism or any form of discrimination and we commit to further educating ourselves and holding ourselves accountable for taking action to improve.

As a result, we have spent the last few weeks listening to understand how we can take meaningful action now and in the future. Our newly established Diversity and Inclusion Forum has decided on a number of clear and actionable initiatives that HelloFresh commits to in the UK.

    These commitments include:

  • Changing how we advertise vacancies to include more inclusive language and reconsidering how we describe requirements to make sure candidates from all backgrounds feel encouraged and empowered to apply. Starting immediately, we are changing the way we advertise, recruit and select for roles to be more mindful and supportive of diversity and inclusion.
  • Increasing diversity at all levels, with a focus on management roles, by upgrading our training and paths to progression. To deliver this, we are reconsidering our internal processes to reflect diversity and inclusion, with a focus on the language and procedures for appraisals, interviews and management policies.
  • Establishing a Diversity and Inclusion Committee, open to all employees, which is a follow up to the Diversity and Inclusion forum. This committee will prioritise actions to be taken and hold HelloFresh UK accountable for continued long- and short-term development and changes.

  • We know that this is just the beginning of the work we must all undertake to continue this conversation and ensure demonstrable change within our workplace and across the communities where we have influence.
