A History of Halloumi

Halloumi is a versatile and unique cheese that has grown in popularity over the years thanks to its distinctive texture and ability to withstand high heat without melting. Originating from the Mediterranean region, particularly Cyprus, this semi-hard cheese is usually made from a mixture of sheep's and goat's milk, or sometimes even cow's milk. It has a dense consistency that makes it perfect for frying, grilling or even air frying. Halloumi is often enjoyed in vegetarian diets thanks to its meaty texture, but is also often served alongside chicken in wraps, flatbreads and burgers.
